Three Truetone guitars using DeArmond pickups were manufactured by CMI/Harmony in Chicago:
The Model TG46 was equivalent to the Harmony Model H78;
The Model TG36 was equivalent to the Harmony Model H56;
The Model TG26 was equivalent to the Harmony Model H17;
This Truetone Model TG46 is identical to the distinctive Harmony Model H78, except for the pickup type and mounting arrangement and the headstock logo. Both guitars are twin cutaway, fitted with three pickups, three On/Off pickup selector switches and six volume and tone control knobs.
The pickup is shown below. Note the rosewood base, with a curved contoured on the underside to provide an accurate fit against the archtop guitar body. The three pickups seen fitted in the guitar here are all the same height. In some slab body instruments such as the Stratocaster, pickups of the same height can be installed, as the fingerboard is almost parallel to the body. However, with an archtop instrument, each pickup requires a different height base. The pickup shown below is from a Harmony H75 guitar. The shallow flat base shown was fitted under the middle pickup. Its dimensions are:
L. 103.5mm. (4.07″) x W. 41.3mm. (1.63″) x H. 2.4mm. (0.95″).
A deeper,base of dimensions: L. 102.7mm. (4.04″) x W. 41.3mm. (1.63″) x H. 7,28mm. (0.29″) at each end and 5.33mm. (0.21″) in the centre of the base.
A deeper,base was fitted under the bridge pickup, with dimensions as follows:
L. 102.7mm. (4.04″) x W. 41.3mm. (1.63″) x H. 7,28mm. (0.29″) at each end and 5.33mm. (0.21″) in the centre of the base. See both bases below.
The neck pickup did not have a base.
